Controlling Blood Sugar for Diabetes Patients

What was measured?

What percentage of HMO members with diabetes had well-controlled blood sugar levels?

These results are based on a sample of HMO patient administrative and medical records.

Why is it important?

The key goal of diabetes treatment is to control blood sugar levels — high blood sugar is harmful to the body in many ways. Getting the right care to control blood sugar levels includes getting help in planning meals and exercise, testing blood at home and taking medications.

Look for differences of at least four percentage points.

Smaller differences are often not significant.
