Childhood Immunizations

What was measured?

What percentage of children in the HMO received, by age two, the four vaccinations recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and the American Academy of Pediatrics?

These results are based on a sample of HMO patient administrative and medical records.

Why is it important?

Getting children immunized is an easy and proven way to prevent serious and potentially deadly illnesses such as hepatitis B, tetanus, measles and meningitis. Good care can include sending reminders to get shots on schedule and making it easy to quickly get the shots.

Look for differences of at least four percentage points.

Smaller differences are often not significant.
