About Perinatal Care Network

Prenatal care, starting early in pregnancy, helps a woman stay healthy and have a healthy baby. Many barriers can keep a woman from going to a doctor or clinic: insurance, income, transportation, or language barriers. PCN works to make sure that women get prenatal care and other services they need. PCN partners include many health care providers and community organizations.

Services

By calling the PCN toll-free phone number above, families can receive:

  • Help finding and applying for Medi-Cal for pregnant women.
  • Help for pregnant women not in prenatal care to start care as soon as possible. Many providers in the Comprehensive Perinatal Services Program (CPSP) program and other private providers and clinics in San Diego have agreed to accept patients referred by PCN. Several providers will see a pregnant woman even before her Medi-Cal coverage is granted.
  • Help scheduling prenatal appointments.
  • Links to other community services, such as Public Health Nursing and the Black Infant Health Program. PCN does not share information about a caller without her permission.
  • Bus tokens for prenatal care appointments.
  • Follow-up services to make sure a woman has gotten the services she needs. PCN can help families get health coverage and to find a medical home for children as well.
