Purpose: The Comprehensive Perinatal Services Program (CPSP) provides many medical and support services to pregnant women. CPSP service providers respect each woman. CPSP services are available from the very beginning of pregnancy until 60 days after the baby is born.

About Comprehensive Perinatal Services Program


CPSP services in California are paid for by Medi-Cal. There is no extra cost for the woman. Any pregnant woman who is eligible for Medi-Cal can receive CPSP services. Any pregnant woman living in California can apply for Medi-Cal. Ask your doctor about CPSP. Or call the Perinatal Care Network, 800-675-2229, to find the nearest Comprehensive Perinatal Services Program and find out if you are eligible.

  • Prenatal care
  • A personal prenatal care coordinator
  • Help with healthy eating
  • Prenatal vitamins
  • Education about staying healthy during pregnancy
  • Childbirth education
  • Education about caring for a baby
  • Help with social or emotional problems
  • Help with breastfeeding
  • Referrals to Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Supplemental Nutrition Program, genetic screening, dental care, family planning, and pediatric care.

Call the CPSP Coordinator at 619-542-4053 for information on becoming a CPSP provider. Providers must have a current Medi-Cal rendering number. The CPSP Coordinator helps with certification and provides ongoing support, assistance, and education.
