For more information phone 619-692-5639 or send us an email.

The Border Health Program (BH) facilitates collaborative border health activities among federal, state, and local government and community-based organizations. Local and cross-border health activities range from communicable disease control and prevention, bioterrorism/public health emergency preparedness, and environmental/occupational health and safety.

The County of San Diego BH staff is responsible for coordinating and facilitating communication between individuals and organizations interested in public and environmental health and safety issues along the San Diego - Mexico international border. BH staff is co-located in San Diego with federal, state and local border health personnel including the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Quarantine Station.

BH serves as a central point of communication for border health information, serving as a relationship-builder between government and non-government agencies within San Diego County and Baja California. BH participates in local, state, national and international professional and community health education activities and research projects that address infectious disease control and prevention, maternal-child health and safety, bioterrorism and emergency preparedness and cross-border health care utilization.
