Mid-day motorists who use Del Dios Highway between Escondido and Rancho Santa Fe should use caution on that seven-mile section September 23-26 and October 1-2. That’s because County Public Works (DPW) crews plan to re-stripe the road and place new lane markers. Crews will work from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. to reduce impact on morning and afternoon commutes.
Del Dios will remain open but California Highway Patrol officers will provide traffic control on the road between Clauden Road on the east end and the intersection with El Monte Video and La Ville Plateada in the west.
DPW maintains nearly 2,000 miles of roads in the County. This project will use some 625 gallons of paint and 110 pounds of reflective “beads” that are mixed with the paint to make the striping more visible to motorists, especially at night.
