Last Day to Cast Ballots in Chula Vista Special Election

May 5 is the last day for Chula Vista residents to vote on Proposition A, a measure that would increase the City of Chula Vista sales tax by one percent.

Ballots for the special election were mailed on April 6. They can be dropped off until 8 p.m. at the following locations:

• City of Chula Vista Clerk’s office; 276 Fourth Avenue in Chula Vista
• County of San Diego Registrar of Voters; 5201 Ruffin Road, Suite I, in Kearny Mesa

More than 105,000 ballots were mailed, but so far, only about 26,000 have been returned to the Registrar’s office.

Preliminary results will be released shortly after 8 p.m. and will be posted on the Registrar’s Web site at as well as the City of Chula Vista site at Final results are expected by the end of the week.
