The County of San Diego will hold an open house in Escondido to discuss a project to widen a one-mile stretch of Bear Valley Parkway with additional vehicle lanes, bike lanes and sidewalks.
The open house is on Wednesday, February 18 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Orange Glen High School Library in Escondido. The address is 2200 Glenridge Road.
The Bear Valley Parkway North project is proposed in an unincorporated area of the County east of Escondido, starting at San Pasqual Valley Road and ending at Boyle Avenue.
It would accommodate increased traffic by widening the road from two lanes to four lanes and adding a center median. The project would also add a shoulder with a bike lane in each direction and sidewalks on both sides.
The Department of Public Works project team will be available at the open house to answer questions. People at the event can also visit stations related to project topics including design, general overview and environmental impact review.
Another open house was held last year to introduce the Bear Valley Parkway North project to the community.
A draft of the Environmental Impact Report (EIR) for the project can be viewed at the Department of Public Works Environmental Services office at 5469 Kearny Villa Road in San Diego, or at the Escondido Public Library at 239 South Kalmia Street. Written comments about the project and the draft EIR may be submitted at the open house or sent to County by March 9, 2009, at the end of the 30-day public review period.
