Early voters turned out in record numbers to cast their ballots in last November’s historic presidential election. During future elections, voters can fill out their ballots in the comfort of their own homes instead of standing in line by applying to vote by mail.
“We expect Governor Schwarzenegger and state lawmakers to call a special election sometime during the next few months, so it is a good time to update your registration. Getting your ballot by mail is convenient and allows you to take your time when filling out the ballot,” said County of San Diego Registrar of Voters, Deborah Seiler.
To apply for a mail ballot, download an application from the Registrar of Voters’ Web site at www.sdvote.com, or contact the Registrar’s office at (858) 565-5800.
In addition, all residents can make sure they are able to vote in the next election by registering to vote. You need to complete a registration form if you are not currently registered, have recently moved or changed your name.
You can get forms and check your registration status at www.sdvote.com. Registration forms are also available at the Registrar of Voters office, all U.S. Post Offices, public libraries, and the Department of Motor Vehicles offices.
